work & work

i have been trying to keep up with work and at times, it just seems too much. there are fleeting moments however when things are alright...goals reveal themselves from the shadows, i have the energy i need to speak & maintain my ground, and i am uplifted by projects that will make things better for people, which i'm asked to be a part of. and through it all i keep hearing the 'work' song playing in the background. =)

i am happy, scared, and hopeful all rolled into one. sometimes, i'm also really, really tired.

today is the fourth of july but besides being meriken's independence day this day is even more important for the following reason...megan parker was indeed born on the fourth of july. so to my tree-hugging friend, all the best on your birthday and can't wait to finally see you!

you know you've had way too many lessons on coral...

when you're in the restroom, sitting on the toilet, then you look up and notice the restroom walls are a grainy, stone surface. you lean in to get a closer look because the surface looks to be made up of many tiny bumps...which resembles tiny, circular corallites that make up corals. you then begin to wonder things like 'gee, what corallite structure would that be most similar to?' 'what genus does it look like?' and then you realize...you need a life if you're sitting on the toilet looking at walls and trying to figure out what corallites they are...

this be my mood: dorky

Book(s) I'm Currently Reading:
The BoneSetter's Daughter by Amy Tan

One of my favorite quotes from the book entitled "The Riddle of Violence" written by Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of the Republic of Zambia:

'Some people draw a comforting distinction between "force" and "violence." I refuse to cloud the issue by such word-play. The power which establishes a state is violence; the power which maintains it is violence; the power which eventually overthrows it is violence. Call an elephant a rabbit only if it gives you comfort to feel that you are about to be trampled to death by a rabbit.'
